Coillemore is a rare, beautiful and well appointed property, once a well built grand hunting lodge, with warm, generously proportioned rooms, with tall ceilings and original architectural features, all rooms with windows overlooking the gardens and stunning scenery beyond, set on a South facing flank of the hill overlooking the sea to Skye. The restoration has clearly spared no expense, inspired by nature and tastefully decorated throughout. There is modern central heating throughout, complemented by log burning stove in the ‘snug’ and log burning open fire in the grand dining room. Outside there is a large stone paved south facing patio, looking out to Skye, covered by a veranda on one side under which there is a folding glass wall which opens up fully to the huge kitchen. There is a fantastic easy to use hot tub in the garden, to relax under the stars, with no light pollution, after a good days hiking and a good meal of locally sourced meat or fish and prepared in the well appointed spacious kitchen. The resulting experience is awesome, a spectacular property for a peaceful relaxing vacation or family gathering, a pleasure to use as a base for exploring, hiking and walking locally or nearby excursions to Plockton or Skye to name but a few. It has great spaces for a large group to gather with enough to spare for a bit of quiet time on your own. The house feels like a home, all be it one belonging to someone with a real eye and great taste in furniture and decoration. Our lovely bedroom had spectacular views out towards the loch and Skye as well as one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. And all this is in an incredibly beautiful part of Scotland that you can just pull on your boots and walk out the front door into. alice bulman2024-08-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently spent a week in the luxuriously appointed Coillemore House. Every bedroom and bathroom is generous in size, with stylish subtle artistic features. The views over the garden and across to Skye are stunning. There is a huge kitchen, well equipped and conducive to cooking whilst chatting. The grounds and hot tub were also much enjoyed by our party of 91 yr to 1 yr olds. We were there for a three generation birthday celebration which worked perfectly due to the feeling of spaciousness throughout. I look forward to hosting a group of my own friends at this idyllic house and location. Alexandra Somervell2024-08-17Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I loved staying at Coillemore, it’s an incredible location and so well kitted out for a highland adventure. Was so well provisioned for young and old alike - there’s something for everyone and so much to explore on the doorstep. Simon was an exceptional host. The house is beyond beautiful and has been both lovingly and tastefully restored. The views are stunning and can been seen from most windows of the property. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay as homely, relaxing and special as they possibly could and are approachable, helpful and always at hand. Generally, it’s quite difficult for us all to visit together because there’s so many of us but this house offered us the luxury of so much space that we could never be on top of one another. One could go off into one of the many rooms for a read, relax or listen to music, but alternatively when your group wants to be together you have many options to do so. There is a large living / dining room, a large kitchen with table, chairs and extra seating at the Island; or a huge fabulous patio with seating and hot tub that looks over the views. At night we used the other living room with log fire which was much more snug but still accommodated us all nicely. We were overwhelmed and delighted by the house and will definitely be back Thank you Coillemore for giving us the perfect trip ! We stayed in late august, extended family, ages 8months - 60+ and the house was just perfect for all of us. Views from the window are very much defined by Christopher Murray Grieve’s ‘Scotland Small?’, with the interior perfectly decorated with every amenity you can think of. We will be back every year to drink the whiskey and bask in front of the fire (and in the hot tub)!! Louise Bancroft2023-08-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A beautiful , comfortable , very well equipped house . Stunning views and oh how we would have dearly LOVED to book it again for 2024 , but the price is far too high now.. having almost doubled since we booked for this year , so unfortunately we are unable to book again . A pity really because we took such great care of it during our stay , leaving it in the immaculate condition we found it . Thanks for a great week in this stunning home , but we are forced to look elsewhere now . Kind Regards , Ian and Louise Marsh
